Makers of Computer and Online Games

My name is Chris Evans and I'm the Lead Developer and El Presidente of Outside the Box Software. Outside the Box Software is an Independent game developer. We self-fund our own development, so we are completely free to explore current genres in different ways or genres that might be uncommon. Our main goal is to provide our customers and fanbase something different with every game release. We strive to give you a gameplay experience that might be a little new (or refreshing) while making sure you have fun.

My Bio (and how this company was founded)

I guess this is the part where I'm suppose to say I have decades of experience and a college degree from a highly respected university. Well, I have neither. I've only been in the videogame industry professionally for the past 4 years and I never went to college. You're probably thinking, well as long as you have at least some real world experience and a high school diploma it's okay. But I actually don't even have a high school diploma. I dropped out of the 11th grade and became a freelance web developer. Yes, it usually stuns a lot of people when I reveal this but then right afterwards I usually tell them that my mother and uncle went to Harvard and it makes them feel a little better. Heck, it makes me feel a little better sometimes... I'm smart by genetic association (or so I'd like to think).

As I said before, I did web development out of high school. For several years I did freelance and ran a couple of my own websites. However when the Internet Bubble popped in 2000, things slowed down. By 2001 I wanted a change of scenery, so I took a job at SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment of America) in the testing department in the PlayStation division. Like many people, I always wanted to make games when I was a kid. I even made several small attempts when I was younger, but this was my first chance to get my foot in the door professionally.

I worked at Sony for about 2 and a half years and racked up about 8-9 game credits where I was listed with about 200 other people. My cog status was in full effect. But during that time I was moonlighting making little mini shockwave (web) games in my spare time. Something just felt right about it. After doing some research on the viability of making a living with small Independent games, I decided to take the plunge. In early 2004, I left Sony and founded my own Independent company and Outside the Box Software was born!

As of this writing, we've completed 5 games (the Pow Pow Trilogy, BlockHeads Clash, and SocioTown). We want to keep pushing the limits of Web 3D and bring new experiences not thought possible in a browser. We hope you join us!
